The forest is privately owned. The owner of the Grotelse Forest is building a recreational port near the fishpond, with an additional pond for paddling that will also serve as a trout pond. There are plans for a pavilion and the recreational infrastructure will be expanded with a rink for “klootschieten” (a typical Dutch sport) and an ATB trail. Besides the recreational development, the nature will also be enhanced. The banks of the fishpond will be upgraded and a number of pools will be created at some of the lower areas in the forest. Strengthening the natural values go hand in hand with the experience of the visitors. The Grotelse Forest is varied and attractive. There are plenty of possibilities for logging by the owner of the forest. In the years to come, the focus will be mainly on rejuvenating the forest and less on clear cutting. Prunus control will remain a priority however.
