De Witte Bergen

Before 1920, this was still an open and flat area. Around 1925, production forests were planted here in an effort to create jobs in the years following World War I. The body of water, today's fishpond, was created in the 1960s, before the construction of the N279 road.

Following this human intervention, nature recovered quickly and regained its old forms.

Broad-leaved Helleborine is a very commonly seen plant here.

The pine forests are home to typical forest birds such as the crested tit and the goldcrest.
