Come and experience nature at De Ossenbeemd!
Theme gardens and the visitor center
The premises of De Ossenbeemd cover about 1.5 ha and border the castle garden and the Vlier valley in Deurne. The premises have been divided into various lots with theme gardens with a wide variety of indigenous plants and plant cultures. It is a great location for hiking and for discovering various new species.
The visitor center serves coffee and tea and you can find information about the environment, nature and durability.
De Ossenbeemd also has a large beehive where beekeepers from the local bee association Saint Ambrosius keep an eye on their bee colonies. Come and marvel at these industrious hive dwellers from behind the large glass panels.
Nature playground, Gnome Path and Durability Route
The playground located on the premises offers many facilities for the little ones that are both fun and educational. While playing, they get to experience nature and durability. The Gnome Path is covered with pointed hats to show them the way. And for those a little older, there is the Durability Route. Or they can climb to the top of the Spiral Mountain and go search for frogs and toads at the toad pool, from atop the footbridge. The Butterfly Garden is beautiful and the Insect Wall is ever so exciting! Or they can come to our petting zoo and play with the animals.
You will find some wonderful picnic spots at the cozy (covered) terrace of the visitor center as well as at the playground.
